Lonely People of the World, Unite!

I've been listening to Devin Davis all morning. It has fucking handclaps and everyone knows I'm a sucker for handclaps.

So the rumors have been flying all over that I'm not coming home this summer. Well I'll clear up any confusion for everyone: I'm not coming home.

Wow, it feels kind of weird saying that since this is the first time I'm not coming home at all. I have scored a job in my admission's office all summer. As a result of giving them my entire summer, they are going to pay my room and board all summer.

As classes end, it really seems like everything is ending. Not just the ending of a semester, but like a fucking era. My station manager is not coming back to WYBF next year. Not only was Krista our leader, but she was my friend and chain-smoking buddy. I'm losing my roommate, for I'm taking a job as an RA next year. And I just found out that I have enough credits to be considered at first-semester junior even though I've only been here for 2 years. I guess I can get outta this place sooner than I thought.

This summer and the following year should be interesting. I predict I'll quit smoking (since I lost all of my chain-smoking buddies) or I'll end up smoking enough to get lung cancer to make up for the fact that I'm about to spend the next year of my life alone.

I Was Such a Lame Ass in High School

So today I decided I would only listen to the music I listened to when I was in high school.
So far the playlist has included:

Braid
Hey Mercedes
Red Animal War
Thursday
Cross My Heart
Dashboard Confessional
Brandston
Taking Back Sunday
Mineral
Christie Front Drive

I like to tell myself that instead of just being a guilty pleasure, it also makes me appreciate the music taste I have now.

These Seven Notes

Today I got the Russian Futurist's new full-length entitled, "Our Thickness."

It's so good it makes me want to jump up and down like a fat little girl and shout out the words like I'm a 7-year-old playing Simon Say's with Barney.

I Turn My Camera On

So I'm totally gay for the new Spoon album. Go and pick up this album as soon as it is relased. It will increase your happiness by like 150%...no lie.

Since I am now one of two editors of the A&E section of my newspaper I guess I can write what I please. And now that the album is legally in my hands, I can write a review. I'm still kicking myself for missing them at SXSW. But enough ranting, and back to my wonderful words of wisdom on the goodness that is known as Spoon.

Forget all that's pure, it never lasts

Friday night I went with Loud Rock Dave to see Black Label Society. Although I did have some doubts about the show, it did indeed rock my fucking face off. I was probably only 1 of 10 chicks there, my ass was grabbed like 15 times and I had beer thrown at my face. I don't think it could have possibly been better than that.

So is anyone else addicted to Grey's Anatomy? I've been watching it obsessively for the past 3 Sunday nights. I think it was the fact that their commercial featured "The Postal Service" that sparked my attention. Even though I get super queasy when it comes to blood I will still watch it with no complaints about the blood spraying from random John Doe's open wound all over the interns.

Godhopping

Instead of going to Macrock like originally planned, I tried to make the best of my weekend here in PA. Since it was Fullerton's birthday and I only have barely enough money for cigarettes until Friday's paycheck I decided to give him a birthday present that was free of cost.

Usually when I try to do this it ends up being a crazy looking collage or just another one of my famous mixtapes. This time I took Fullerton and Amanda the roommate with me to the Dog's Die in Hot Cars show right down the road to do what turned out to be an amazing interview.

I must admit that everyone drinking and chain smoking added in with their thick accents is making it a little hard to transcribe the interview. But how else would I have found out they went to the same school as the Beta Band? Or where else could I hear Craig, Lee and Fullerton compare our local museum to the Texas Chainsaw Massacre?

Their show was excellent. I saw them once before at CMJ which totally blew my mind. I must say me and Fullerton's pumping fists and Amanda getting picked up by random boy all throughout the show were also entertaining.

I did think Amanda left to make out with random boy, but she swears he was just leaning close to her face to ask if he could buy her a drink. I'm glad she turned him down...he was super intoxicated as it was AND it turns out he was from James Madison University. Yes, DDIHC is great and I would drive like 4 hours to see them, but I sure as hell wouldn't do that if Macrock was taking place on my campus.

Dogs Die in Hot Cars = best interview I've had in weeks...
